Role Overview

The Director of Global Advertising Communications is a senior leadership role responsible for spearheading external communications strategies for Roku's advertising division, a major and rapidly expanding revenue segment. This position involves crafting compelling narratives around complex business, product, and industry developments to present to external audiences, while deeply understanding Roku's advertising growth plans and broader business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the external communications framework for Roku's advertising business, focusing on growth areas such as programmatic partnerships, innovation, measurement solutions, platform collaborations, data and technology progress, and emerging monetization paths.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across diverse functions including media, advertising, product, technology, sales, and corporate communications to align communications with business priorities and long-term objectives.
  • Act as a strategic consultant to C-level executives to shape narratives strengthening Roku's leadership in streaming, media, and advertising.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of Roku’s advertising products, development plans, and market strategies to effectively communicate innovations and opportunities to external stakeholders.
  • Design sustained communication strategies informed by business dynamics, monetization techniques, advertiser requirements, and potential revenue sources.
  • Work cooperatively with multiple departments such as Advertising, Investor Relations, Marketing, and Business Development to develop business stories and support strategic communications.
  • Support marketing and events by emphasizing external reputation, business storytelling, executive visibility, and engagement with earned media channels.
  • Build and nurture extensive relationships with leading business, financial, technology, media, and advertising journalists at top publications.
  • Provide communication leadership during key industry events including CES, Cannes Lions, Upfront/NewFront presentations, earnings releases, major product launches, and significant partnership announcements.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Over 20 years of experience in communications or public relations, with deep expertise in advertising, ad tech, corporate, and revenue-related communication.
  • At least 8 years in senior leadership roles collaborating directly with executive-level leaders.
  • Established connections with top-tier media representatives in business, financial, technology, and advertising sectors.
  • Proven skill to transform business and product strategies into compelling messages for external audiences.
  • Excellent writing, storytelling, and project management capabilities.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence in complex organizational structures.
  • Highly organized, detail-focused, adaptable to dynamic and fast-moving environments.
  • Experience within publicly traded companies preferred.
  • Passion for television, streaming services, media, advertising, and entertainment industries.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively within collaborative settings.
  • Sound judgment, particularly during high-pressure or rapidly evolving scenarios.
  • Capability to balance strategic thinking with operational tasks and respond swiftly to shifting business demands.
  • Exceptional at simplifying intricate ideas and navigating ambiguous situations.
  • Capacity to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Additional Information

New York location salary range: $200,200 to $292,400 annually, adjusted based on individual skills, certifications, and geographic factors.
