Job description

About the company

Treaty Oak Financial partners with growth-focused businesses as an outsourced accounting and fractional finance team. The firm is expanding quickly and is using modern technology to build a faster, more forward-thinking accounting model. The environment suits someone who is organized yet inventive, proactive yet independent, and energized by helping shape teams, improve processes, and deliver high-quality accounting at scale.

Role overview

This is a senior finance leadership position with significant ownership. You will oversee finance service delivery across a portfolio of high-growth clients, guide and grow a team of professionals, and strengthen the operational systems that support the firm. You will collaborate closely with the founders and leadership team to design the workflows, standards, and infrastructure that define how the company serves its clients.

The role calls for someone who can think strategically about scaling the service while also handling complex work directly and solving difficult problems in execution.

Team leadership and internal finance

  • Lead, supervise, and develop the internal finance team by setting expectations, reviewing output, and encouraging a strong culture of accountability and precision.
  • Plan team capacity and assign workloads across the client portfolio so output remains efficient and accurate.
  • Foster a mindset of ownership, continuous improvement, and pride in quality work.
  • Hold regular coaching and performance discussions to support individual growth and success.
  • Work with leadership on hiring as the team expands.

Client finance responsibilities

  • Act as a fractional finance leader for a portfolio of growth-oriented professional services firms and emerging businesses, serving as the senior financial advisor those clients rely on.
  • Own or assist with month-end close, financial statements, and management reporting for complex client engagements that require depth of judgment.
  • Provide CFO-level guidance on revenue improvement, expense structure, capital planning, and overall business performance for clients in growth mode.
  • Identify missing processes, weak controls, and reporting blind spots in client finance operations and resolve them.
  • Partner with the broader team to create an excellent client experience and support colleagues on complex situations.

What the company is looking for

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, with exposure to both internal finance work and client-facing advisory work. Experience in a multi-client, outsourced, or fractional finance setting is important, as the role requires rapid context switching and strong delivery across multiple accounts.

You should be a capable people manager who builds accountable, high-performing teams. The role also requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, along with the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly enough that founders, partners, and other non-finance stakeholders trust your judgment.

Comfort with AI tools and modern financial technology is expected, as is the ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Candidates should be proactive about finding and closing gaps and able to bring structure to ambiguous situations.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of FP&A experience, including 5 or more years in a high-growth startup or scaling business.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition and balance sheet accounting.
  • Advanced Excel capability, including building and maintaining schedules and complex financial models.
  • CPA licensure is preferred.

Compensation and benefits

  • Competitive base pay.
  • Annual profit-sharing bonus.
  • Health insurance.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Monthly internet stipend.
  • Monthly cell phone stipend.

Work setup and location

This is a remote-first role, with Texas residency preferred. The team also travels to Austin for occasional team trips.
