Role Summary

The Director of Finance will serve as a strategic and operational leader, overseeing spiderSilk's financial planning, performance, governance, and daily financial operations. Collaborating closely with the CEO and executive team, this role focuses on supporting sustainable growth, improving unit economics, strengthening financial controls, and enabling scaling efficiently with capital. Responsibilities include managing financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash management, fundraising assistance, and finance functions such as accounting, tax, compliance, procurement, and commercial finance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the financial strategy that aligns with the company’s growth and product development goals.
• Serve as a trusted advisor for the CEO and Board regarding financial performance, runway analysis, scenario planning, and trade-offs.
• Lead the annual financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling processes.
• Implement KPI frameworks tailored to SaaS/security metrics such as ARR/MRR, NRR/GRR, CAC, LTV, payback period, churn, margin, and pipeline-to-revenue conversion.
• Oversee accounting, month-end close processes, preparation of financial statements, and management reporting schedules.
• Establish and enforce robust internal controls, spending policies, approval workflows, and procurement procedures.
• Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, audit, and corporate governance requirements specific to UAE and KSA markets, with plans for North America.
• Manage payroll processes, treasury operations, cash flow, and working capital efficiently.
• Collaborate with sales leadership on pricing strategies, discount management, deal structuring, and approval workflows.
• Enhance revenue recognition and contract review processes especially for SaaS subscriptions, services, and long-term agreements.
• Develop scalable order-to-cash processes including invoicing, collections, revenue reporting, and renewal forecasting.
• Prepare high-quality investor reports, board presentations, and financial performance narratives.
• Select and implement scalable finance tools including ERP/accounting systems, financial planning and analysis tools, billing, and expense management software.
• Design an integrated finance data model linking product usage, sales pipeline, and revenue results.
• Build and grow an efficient finance department comprised of internal staff and external partners as needed.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a motivated and high-performing finance team.
• Promote a company-wide culture focused on accountability, ownership, and operational discipline.

Success Criteria for First 6-12 Months

• Timely and accurate monthly financial close with actionable insights.
• Reliable forecasting model connecting pipeline, ARR, and cash flow, including scenario analyses.
• Effective spending governance with strong internal controls that do not hinder business performance.
• Transparent understanding of unit economics and initiatives targeting margin and operational efficiency improvements.
• Preparation of board and investor-ready reporting and due diligence materials.

Qualifications and Experience

• Over 10 years of progressive finance leadership, including roles as Finance Director, VP of Finance, or equivalent in high-growth companies.
• Significant experience in SaaS or subscription business models, preferably within cybersecurity or B2B software sectors.
• Comprehensive knowledge of revenue recognition methods, contract accounting, and managing multi-entity operations.
• Proven expertise in financial planning and analysis, cash management, and scaling finance operations.
• Experience interacting with Boards, investors, and managing fundraising and due diligence processes.
• Strong familiarity with financial, tax, and compliance regulations in UAE and GCC countries.

Preferred Experience

• Background in venture-backed startups, scaling finance functions from inception through growth stages.
• Knowledge of international expansion challenges, including multi-currency operations and international tax matters.
• Experience in the cybersecurity industry, familiarity with SOC management, exposure management, or threat intelligence ecosystems is an advantage.
