Role Overview
The Director of Finance will be a key leader responsible for scaling Laurel intelligently, advancing profitability, and enhancing enterprise value with an aim toward a successful exit within three years. This dynamic position requires building and owning financial strategies, models, controls, and analytics that adapt with rapid growth, partnering closely with founders and leaders.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain integrated financial models linking revenues, investments, expenses, and cash flow.
- Provide clear financial insights and strategic recommendations to leadership.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning with rolling updates reflecting current realities.
- Evaluate product pricing, margins, customer economics, and strategic initiatives to guide growth.
- Establish KPIs and build dashboards to monitor financial and operational performance.
- Oversee monthly accounting processes, financial statement preparation, and cash management.
- Enhance financial systems, internal controls, and data integrity supporting both hardware and software components.
- Coordinate with external advisors across tax, legal, banking, and insurance domains.
- Utilize AI and automation tools for faster modeling, forecasting, reporting, and workflow optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline required.
- Proven abilities in financial modeling, forecasting, strategic planning, and accounting oversight.
- Experience translating financial data into actionable business decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort engaging directly with senior leadership and founders.
- Preferred: MBA or current pursuit thereof, experience in startups or fast-growing tech firms, knowledge of software, recurring revenue, hardware/connected device models.
- Familiarity with transaction preparation, due diligence, exit planning, and modern financial and analytic technologies including AI-enabled tools.
Additional Information
Location is Pleasant Grove, Utah, with a strong preference for in-office work, though remote or hybrid arrangements may be considered exceptionally. The company offers competitive salary based on experience, with significant equity compensation negotiable. This role expects flexibility beyond traditional office hours due to rapid change and business demands.
