Role Overview
We seek a seasoned Director of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to join a swiftly expanding, technology-focused financial services company based in Dubai, UAE. This leadership role is not typical governance but centers on proactively shaping and executing the ERM strategy. You will partner directly with senior executives and the Board to overhaul our ERM frameworks, embedding innovative controls powered by AI and enhancing risk management across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
- Redesign and evolve the ERM framework to a mature state.
- Develop and strengthen risk governance structures, internal controls, and comprehensive risk registers across the organisation.
- Lead risk assessments focused on operations, technology, and AI-driven processes.
- Establish governance mechanisms for AI agents, automation, and new technology implementations.
- Evaluate AI tools, overseeing configurations, governance, and audit processes of AI agents.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Security, Compliance teams, and executive leadership to ensure cohesive risk management.
- Drive ongoing improvements leveraging automation and AI capabilities.
- Support readiness for regulatory inspections and audits.
- Deliver clear presentations of risk insights and strategic advice to senior leadership and the Board.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- 7 to 10+ years in Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk, Internal Audit, or Technology Risk.
- Strong technical or engineering background enabling credible engagement with senior technology stakeholders.
- Practical experience with AI tools, AI governance frameworks, and agent-based AI workflows.
- Deep understanding of AI agent design, monitoring, control mechanisms, and audit procedures.
- Experience in cryptocurrency, digital assets, or fintech sectors, with preference for those with crypto exposure.
- Solid knowledge of New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) regulations and regulated financial environments.
- Demonstrated capability in designing and reconstructing enterprise risk management frameworks.
- Familiarity with COSO framework is highly valued.
- Ability to operate independently as a high-impact contributor within a lean and efficient team environment.
- Excellent skills in stakeholder management, including experience presenting at executive and Board levels.
