Role Overview
This is a senior engineering leadership opportunity in Germany, offered through a partner company that handles the application process and all follow-up steps directly. The role sits in a fast-scaling, AI-focused technology environment and is centered on growing a core product engineering organization. You will guide several engineering teams working on core product journeys, AI-driven features, and developer-facing systems. The position calls for a mix of strategic technical direction, strong people leadership, and the ability to create clarity and structure in a rapidly changing setting.
You will collaborate closely with Product and Design leadership to turn ambitious product goals into dependable technical execution. In a remote-first, distributed setup, you will help shape engineering standards, architectural choices, and delivery quality. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys building high-performing teams, operating in fast-moving environments, and working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, automation, and product innovation.
Key Accountabilities
- Guide, expand, and develop several engineering teams across Core Experience and AI product areas, including direct leadership of Engineering Managers.
- Design and refine the team structure so the organization can scale with clear ownership, strong focus, and effective coordination.
- Own technical direction and architectural approach, helping teams make scalable, maintainable, and well-reasoned engineering decisions.
- Work in close partnership with Product, Design, and other cross-functional leaders to convert company goals into prioritized technical plans and execution roadmaps.
- Improve delivery performance so teams release meaningful, high-quality user-facing products quickly while protecting long-term technical stability.
- Support the creation of AI-native product features, including customer-facing applications that use LLMs and related AI systems.
- Introduce and strengthen engineering practices, operating rhythms, and frameworks that increase alignment, execution quality, and accountability.
- Coach engineering leaders and contribute to a culture of ownership, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Represent the Core Experience engineering function in leadership conversations and help shape broader product and technical strategy.
- Keep engineering work aligned with business goals, user value, and the scalability needs of the platform over time.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams and managing Engineering Managers in a high-growth or scale-up setting.
- Ability to define technical strategy across large product areas and turn it into practical plans with measurable outcomes.
- Strong technical foundation with the confidence to contribute meaningfully to architecture discussions and engineering decisions.
- Substantial background in product engineering and delivering user-facing features in fast-moving SaaS or platform environments.
- Track record of coaching engineering leaders and building accountable, high-performing teams.
- Practical exposure to AI-native products or AI-powered systems, including LLM-based applications and product integration.
- Experience leading distributed teams, including remote or geographically spread engineering organizations.
- Ability to balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability in complex engineering environments.
- Experience in rapidly growing companies and comfort operating through organizational change and complexity.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to partner effectively with Product and Design on high-impact trade-offs.
- Bonus: experience with developer tools, workflow automation, or open-source ecosystems.
- Bonus: familiarity with TypeScript, Node.js, or modern JavaScript ecosystems.
