Job description
Overview
This leadership role involves overseeing all engineering, maintenance, and asset protection operations within a luxury hotel property to ensure continuous optimal conditions, safety, and readiness for guests.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the entire engineering department encompassing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, building management systems (BMS), and fire-life safety systems.
- Develop and execute comprehensive preventive maintenance strategies for guest rooms, back-of-house areas, public spaces, and technical infrastructures.
- Ensure strict adherence to local building regulations, fire safety codes, health and safety policies, and hotel brand standards.
- Lead recruitment, training, scheduling, performance management, and development of the engineering team.
- Oversee the selection of vendors, negotiate contracts, and supervise service levels for specialized systems and capital improvement projects.
- Manage the engineering budget and capital expenditure planning, focusing on energy efficiency initiatives to lower room operational costs.
- Quickly respond to equipment failures or emergencies to minimize disruption to guests.
- Maintain the hotel's external appearance including façade upkeep, landscaping, and parking facilities.
Candidate Requirements
- 8 to 12 years of professional experience specifically in hotel engineering, with 3 to 5 years holding leadership positions at 4- or 5-star hotels.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Facilities Management.
- Extensive understanding of hospitality building systems, energy management, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
- Proven ability to lead multi-shift engineering teams in high-capacity hotel environments.
