Overview
Join the Ministry of Education in New Zealand as a Director of Education, leading our regional efforts across Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast. This permanent, full-time leadership position is pivotal in shaping a responsive, equitable education system that empowers every learner to succeed.
Role Description
As a key regional leader, you will guide the Ministry's services, fostering collaboration between educational providers and the broader sector to achieve strategic government education goals efficiently and with purpose. You will be responsible for regional performance management, developing tailored solutions to drive achievement, equity, and sustainable improvements for children and youth.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven senior leadership in complex organizations, ideally with a focus on service delivery.
- Strong background in change management and oversight of diverse programs.
- Insight into educational achievement challenges and mechanisms.
- Demonstrated success in advancing equitable outcomes for Māori, Pacific peoples, and students with special needs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Knowledge and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
- Commitment to uphold Public Service standards of integrity and conduct.
About the Team
You will be part of Te Mahau | Education Services, collaborating with a dedicated group of 17 leaders who provide support and drive operational excellence across early learning and schooling sectors nationwide. Our unit is accountable for equitable service delivery, funding oversight, regulatory functions, and leading change initiatives that impact education quality across the country.
