Role Overview
The Director of Business Operations partners closely with the CEO, spearheading organizational alignment and managing key cross-functional projects to ensure the executive's strategic priorities are accomplished. This senior role combines leadership, strategy development, operational management, and communication functions, serving as an essential advisor and multiplier of the CEO's impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the annual and quarterly strategic planning, establishing clear goals, KPIs, and priorities.
- Convert executive vision into actionable cross-departmental initiatives and roadmaps.
- Oversee organizational performance metrics, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
- Support the CEO with data-driven insights, briefing materials, presentations for the board, and strategic decision frameworks.
- Serve as a confidential advisor on significant business decisions and sensitive matters.
- Drive alignment among Finance, HR, Operations, Product and other departments, managing special projects, timelines, and deliverables.
- Address and resolve interdepartmental obstacles and escalate issues as necessary.
- Develop executive communications, speeches, and company-wide updates ensuring consistent messaging.
- Manage stakeholder relations including investors, partners, and senior leadership.
- Improve internal processes, executive workflows, meeting cadences, and oversee leadership events like offsites and quarterly reviews.
- Implement and manage systems to track priorities, KPIs, and business initiatives.
- Collaborate with HR on leadership development, organizational structure, recruiting, and fostering employee engagement and culture.
- Mentor emerging leaders and high-potential staff members.
- Handle confidential information discreetly and lead crisis management, sensitive negotiations, and executive conflict resolution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree (MBA) required.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in strategy, consulting, operations or leadership roles.
- Proven record of working directly with senior executives and leading cross-functional initiatives.
Preferred Experience
- Background in startup environments, SaaS, or service-oriented companies.
- Experience in fractional or consulting capacities.
- Familiarity with tools including HubSpot, Asana, Notion, Salesforce, and business intelligence platforms.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range CAD 100,000 to 120,000 with an additional 15% performance-related bonus.
- Eligibility to join the company's stock option plan following six months of continuous employment.
- Work location is fully onsite, five days a week at the Mississauga, Ontario office.
