Job description
About the Role
Figma is expanding its team of innovative creators dedicated to making design universally accessible. The platform empowers teams to transform ideas into realities—whether through brainstorming, prototyping, converting designs into code, or collaborating seamlessly across locations with AI assistance. As design and teamwork evolve, we're looking for a highly skilled operator to address pivotal challenges around our business model and monetization strategies linked to AI and consumption-based software.
Joining as the inaugural Director on our Business Operations team, you will lead efforts to examine and shape Figma's evolving business strategies regarding pricing, packaging, AI credit consumption, and overall monetization frameworks. This position involves building and guiding a focused, high-impact team tasked with steering these critical initiatives, serving as a strategic partner to senior leadership including the CEO, CPO, and CFO.
Key Responsibilities
- Tackle Figma’s most complex and undefined business challenges, advance them from uncertainty to actionable executive decisions.
- Define the future of Figma’s monetization, emphasizing AI integration, usage-based billing models, APIs, and acquisitions, providing clear strategic direction.
- Recruit, manage, and inspire a compact, elite team that exemplifies rigorous analysis and executive-grade presentations.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Finance, Engineering, and Go-to-Market teams to solve difficult problems and align strategies.
- Contribute actively to company-wide planning and major capital allocation decisions with insightful perspectives.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience consistently handling the toughest, most ambiguous, and consequential problems at a company.
- Strong strategy foundation from management consulting, private equity, or investing combined with operational roles in high-growth software businesses or top-tier investment firms.
- Demonstrated success in guiding undefined, high-impact business problems from concept to executive resolution.
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively at executive levels without formal authority.
- Proficiency in P&L analysis with strong financial and business judgment.
- Leadership experience with team development and management capabilities.
- Preferably familiar with monetization, pricing strategies, and business model innovations, especially related to AI and consumption models.
- Hands-on skills in financial modeling and SQL are desirable but not essential.
