Role Overview
We are seeking a senior Business Development Director at executive level for a major organization in the drilling industry. Reporting to the CEO, this position will play a central role in shaping commercial direction, deepening client partnerships, and supporting sustainable growth across current operations as well as upcoming new-build projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main commercial point of contact between customers and internal teams to keep project execution and business objectives aligned.
- Design and implement business development plans, covering market evaluation, pricing strategy, tender preparation, and contract discussions.
- Take full ownership of commercial drilling agreements, including leased assets and shareholder arrangements.
- Build and sustain senior client relationships while representing the company at industry forums and external meetings.
- Prepare materials for board review and oversee monthly commercial performance reporting.
- Lead initiatives related to localization and value creation, including IKTVA activities and supplier development.
- Support corporate social responsibility programs and contribute to talent development efforts in collaboration with industry academies.
- Work closely with Supply Chain, HSE, and Operational Excellence functions to ensure delivery against organizational KPIs.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring extensive commercial leadership experience in the energy sector, along with the confidence to influence at executive and board level. This role suits a strategic leader who can combine relationship management, negotiation expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver long-term business growth.
Additional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
- At least 15 years of experience in business development, commercial, or sales roles within the energy sector.
- Prior work experience with an offshore drilling contractor is mandatory.
- Proven success in contract negotiations, tender handling, and execution of commercial strategy.
- Background in international and multicultural work environments is a strong advantage.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
