Role overview
Dynacare is seeking a Director, National Logistics to lead and continuously improve its logistics function across Canada. This leadership position is central to transforming the network, strengthening operational capability, and supporting the organization’s goal of becoming a national leader in laboratory services. The role calls for a leader who can guide teams through change, build a strong and engaged function, and deliver measurable operational excellence.
Based in Brampton, Ontario, this permanent full-time, on-site role is located at 115 Midair Court. It includes local and national travel of 25-30%.
Strategic leadership and planning
You will help shape operational strategy and plans that support Dynacare’s mission, business priorities, and growth objectives. The role also involves analyzing performance to identify efficiency gains, cost-saving opportunities, and the return on investment of improvement initiatives.
Network operations
You will oversee performance management across all logistics sites, including service level agreements, pickup and delivery timing, accuracy measures, and client satisfaction. The role requires resolving issues affecting performance, morale, specimen integrity, and service quality, while driving continuous improvement.
You will partner with senior logistics leadership to implement route optimization and other productivity initiatives that reduce transit time and ensure compliance with clinical requirements. Regular audits will be required to confirm adherence to transportation, health and safety, site-specific, and regulatory standards such as TDC and CAP.
This role also includes management of courier partners, transport vendors, and air freight providers through performance-based agreements. Where applicable, you will ensure operations comply with collective bargaining agreements, support labour relations matters, and act as management representative in bargaining discussions with HR and legal support. In addition, you will help build business continuity and disaster recovery plans and assess operational risks to protect service continuity and client relationships.
People leadership
You will lead logistics operations managers and support staff, coaching them to grow their capability and performance. The role requires setting a positive example of Dynacare’s values, service orientation, employee wellness, and operational standards.
You will also lead change initiatives, manage workforce planning, recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management, and support engagement efforts to improve retention and team effectiveness. Recognition of team achievements is also part of the role.
Client services and account management
You will design and roll out onboarding programs for new clients, covering specimen handling, pickup scheduling, technology training, and escalation paths. The position also involves monitoring market conditions, sharing competitive insights, and working with business development on client reviews, RFPs, and contract negotiations.
Sustainability, safety, and compliance
The role requires building a culture that emphasizes safety, quality, innovation, adaptability, and fair treatment. You will also be expected to embed sustainability principles into logistics practices and ensure compliance with environmental, transportation, health, and safety requirements.
You will develop and maintain controls and processes that support policy adherence, regulatory compliance, and risk reduction across the logistics network.
