About Banana Republic

Banana Republic is a brand built on storytelling, creating refined apparel and accessories for the modern explorer. Since its founding in San Francisco in 1978, the brand has continued to evolve its heritage of discovery through thoughtfully designed collections that combine enduring style with strong craftsmanship.

The company’s team is made up of imaginative, curious, and driven people who bring new ideas to life through elevated design, memorable experiences, and a shared commitment to creativity and innovation.

About the Role

The Global Director of Social Media and Influencer Marketing will shape the brand’s cultural presence and digital narrative. This is a senior social-first leadership position for someone who works at the crossroads of creative direction, social media, and influencer strategy. The right candidate brings strong leadership, communication, and influence, along with the agility to adapt quickly in order to stay culturally relevant and support business priorities.

As a key leader in the marketing organization, you will guide breakthrough campaigns, build strategic partnerships with high-profile talent, and develop a social-led creative engine. You should bring exceptional taste and a sharp editorial instinct, making sure every asset — whether a low-fi TikTok or a global high-production campaign — feels premium, aspirational, and culturally in tune. You will lead a global team in turning brand goals into shareable moments that build brand momentum and commercial impact across the social landscape.

What You’ll Do

  • Create and drive an organic social strategy across channels that centers on storytelling and helps the brand become a leading voice in the conversation.
  • Shape and deliver high-impact, social-first campaigns and seasonal narratives that strengthen brand affinity and expand organic reach.
  • Work closely with the creative, brand, PR, and copy teams to develop social content with strong visual quality and a polished brand point of view, serving as the final reviewer for execution.
  • Develop an elevated global influencer strategy and build relationships with creators, celebrities, and niche tastemakers who can meaningfully influence the brand.
  • Help influence annual planning and the seasonal creative process early on so that organic and paid social assets are conceived and captured from the start of the season.
  • Coordinate with global franchise partners, internal teams, and agencies to deliver aligned worldwide launches that generate conversation and excitement.
  • Define clear KPIs and performance benchmarks for social programs, using social listening and advanced analytics to spot audience gaps and improve return on investment.
  • Manage the global social and influencer budget and oversee agency relationships to maximize efficiency and output.
  • Partner across functions to deliver social campaigns, launch events, and experiential activations that turn online buzz into real-world brand relationships.

Core Competencies

  • Strategy: Ability to design standout social-first initiatives that build brand love and virality, while confidently presenting bold ideas to senior leadership and balancing short- and long-term priorities.
  • Execution & Taste: Strong aesthetic judgment for social, talent, and event creative, with a focus on premium, on-brand, platform-appropriate output.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to recruit, coach, and motivate a high-performing global team while encouraging creative experimentation and speed in a matrixed environment.
  • Planning & Process: Skilled at planning global initiatives that support company objectives and creating efficient internal and external workflows that maintain quality and pace.
  • Teamwork: Acts as the organization’s social subject matter expert, communicating strategy and seasonal plans clearly to cross-functional partners to maintain alignment.
  • Ownership: Proactively anticipates shifts in culture and industry trends, taking accountability for social performance and community sentiment.

Who You Are

  • You bring 12+ years of marketing experience, including at least 8+ years leading social media and influencer functions, ideally in fashion.
  • You have a strong record of delivering creative social campaigns and managing relationships with talent and celebrities.
  • You have 5+ years of people management experience, including developing individual contributors and leading collaborative creative teams.
  • You have excellent creative judgment and a refined sense of taste.
  • You think social-first and are highly tuned into virality, trending aesthetics, and the mechanics of digital storytelling.
  • You understand paid social, influencer seeding, and affiliate strategies, including how to drive both awareness and conversion.
  • You are analytically strong and have used tools such as CreatorIQ, Tribe Dynamics, and Dash Hudson to measure and improve performance.
  • You communicate clearly and persuasively, with the ability to present a creative vision to senior leaders and operate effectively in a complex global organization.
  • You bring an entrepreneurial mindset, are comfortable navigating ambiguity, and are motivated to help transform the brand’s digital presence.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $175,000 to $227,500 per year. Actual compensation will depend on qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies, and work location. The company will comply with minimum wage or the minimum of the stated range, whichever is higher, based on applicable city, county, and state requirements.

Benefits at Banana Republic

  • Employee merchandise discount across the company’s brands: 50% off regular-priced items at Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta, plus 30% off outlet pricing for all employees.
  • One of the more competitive paid time off plans available in the industry.
  • Up to five paid volunteer hours each month to support a charity of choice.
