Job description

About Banana Republic

Banana Republic is a brand built around modern exploration, creating thoughtfully designed apparel and accessories with refined craftsmanship and enduring style. Established in 1978 in San Francisco, the company continues to evolve its heritage of discovery through collections that support and enrich everyday journeys.

The team brings together imaginative, inquisitive storytellers and makers who are focused on elevating design, creating immersive experiences, and pushing ideas forward with creativity and innovation.

Role Overview

The Brand Marketing Manager will help define Banana Republic’s presence in culture by building brand excitement, relevance, and compelling storytelling across campaigns and special initiatives. This role blends marketing, editorial thinking, and content strategy, turning cultural insights into concepts, content, activations, and experiences that can travel across multiple channels.

The position involves developing, pitching, and supporting the production of content and experiences that connect the brand, product, and culture, from campaign narratives to archive-inspired stories and highly engaging shoppable moments. Success in this role requires close collaboration with internal partners and external contributors to ensure ideas are both creatively strong and operationally executable.

What You'll Do

  • Own special projects from early concepting through launch, making sure ideas are translated into live campaigns and experiences across channels.
  • Create integrated launch plans across owned and paid media so concepts work effectively across formats and customer touchpoints.
  • Develop and produce multi-format content for social, video, editorial, digital, and in-person experiences that increase engagement and brand visibility.
  • Generate and present ideas, then work with cross-functional partners to deliver interactive, shoppable brand moments.
  • Ensure all content is tailored to the platform, creatively cohesive, and executed with strong operational discipline.
  • Bring an informed perspective on fashion, media, editorial, and marketing trends and use it to shape creative direction.
  • Perform continuous cultural and competitive analysis to guide where and how the brand should appear.
  • Develop storytelling directions rooted in vintage references and brand heritage, including the stories to tell, the partners to tell them with, and why they matter now.
  • Identify repeatable content formats, including video-first ideas, that can build consistency and momentum over time.
  • Partner with UX and digital teams to improve how stories appear across the website and digital experiences.
  • Align marketing, social, product design, merchandising, PR, and paid media so campaigns are set up for a strong rollout.

Experience and Fit

The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of strategic and creative ability, along with a deep understanding of what creates relevance and engagement in culture. They should be comfortable moving between big-picture planning and hands-on execution in a fast-moving environment.

This role also calls for strong editorial judgment, experience in writing or content creation, and the ability to present ideas clearly, execute them end-to-end, and summarize results for senior leaders. Experience in editorial, publishing, platforms, or media environments is considered an advantage.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in brand marketing, content, editorial, or a blended role.
  • Strong cultural awareness and an understanding of what drives attention and engagement.
  • Editorial instincts with experience in writing, video, content development, or storytelling.
  • Ability to pitch ideas convincingly and carry them through to completion.
  • Comfort working across strategy and execution in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proven collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Fresh, original thinking and a willingness to challenge traditional marketing approaches.
  • Experience in editorial, publishing, platform, or media settings is beneficial.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this role is $119,400 to $155,200. Pay will depend on qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies, and work location. The company will pay at least the applicable minimum wage or the minimum of the stated range, whichever is higher, in line with city, county, and state rules.

Benefits at Banana Republic

  • 50% discount on regular-priced merchandise across Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta; outlet purchases receive a 30% discount for all employees.
  • Industry-leading paid time off program.
  • Up to five paid volunteer hours each month for eligible employees.
  • 401(k) plan with company match on contributions up to 4% of base pay for eligible employees.
  • Employee stock purchase plan for eligible employees.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance for eligible employees.
