Job description

Role overview

This leadership position is responsible for setting up and running portfolio-level capabilities that support the Brisbane 2032 Games Coordination Plan. It offers the opportunity to influence coordination, assurance, reporting and risk management across one of Australia’s most complex and high-profile programs.

What you will do

The role provides central oversight and system-level assurance within a Games delivery environment made up of multiple connected partners. You will collaborate with Games Delivery Partners, the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee, the Australian Government, GIICA, Queensland Government delivery departments, local government partners and other stakeholders, while respecting that each organisation retains accountability through its own governance, risk and project management arrangements.

You will lead a small team in a fast-moving setting and develop practical, forward-thinking solutions that improve evidence-based decision-making across agencies, executives and governance forums. A key part of the job is creating and embedding the standards, frameworks and tools needed for OPGO to keep an integrated whole-of-Games view.

This includes maintaining visibility over commitments, milestones, benefits, risks, interdependencies, reporting obligations and escalation routes so senior governance groups have a consolidated picture for decision-making, including the Games Executive Group and Games Leadership Group.

About you

You are an experienced strategic leader who has worked in complex, high-profile delivery settings. You demonstrate strong judgement, political awareness and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across government, statutory bodies and delivery partners while sustaining trusted relationships and keeping focus on outcomes for the whole Games.

You bring a strong sense of responsibility and a track record of achieving strong results through professionalism, persistence and openness. Your experience should include portfolio, program or enterprise-level coordination in complex environments, ideally involving major events, government delivery or federated operating models where success depends on alignment, assurance, structured reporting and effective escalation.

What is on offer

This is a demanding but rewarding senior role with the opportunity to contribute directly to the delivery of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, a major milestone for Queensland and Australia. You will work at the centre of a multi-partner delivery system and support engagement with senior executives, CEOs, Chairs, Ministers and delivery leaders across the Games ecosystem.

The package includes competitive salary arrangements, salary packaging options, generous leave entitlements, a strong focus on employee health and wellbeing, and access to premium facilities plus bike storage racks and services.
