Deloitte Canada, a wholly Canadian-owned professional services firm, is committed to making a meaningful difference by helping individuals, organizations, and communities thrive and build a sustainable future. The Future of Canada Centre (FCC) at Deloitte focuses on thought leadership and public policy exploration to boost Canada's growth and competitiveness through unique policy analysis and original research.

Position Overview

As Director of the FCC based in Toronto, you will oversee research and public policy initiatives, set strategic direction, and ensure delivery of impactful insights that influence national policy debates. You will merge research excellence with policy insights to translate evolving geopolitical, economic, and societal trends into actionable strategies supporting Canada's interests and fostering collaboration between governments and businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic agenda and manage day-to-day FCC operations, including project prioritization and resource allocation.
  • Align FCC goals with Deloitte Canada's strategic priorities and identify key emerging issues and high-value research opportunities.
  • Provide counsel to senior leadership on strategic themes and progress.
  • Establish FCC as a prominent national voice by delivering consistent, rigorous, and high-quality economic and policy outputs.
  • Oversee production and dissemination of flagship thought leadership reports, policy briefs, and market-facing publications.
  • Maintain narrative clarity, thorough analysis, and consistent methodology across all outputs.
  • Guide policy analysis across areas such as geopolitics, economic policy, defense, industrial strategy, and regulation.
  • Contribute personally to significant deliverables including reports, opinion pieces, and presentations.
  • Develop strategies to expand the reach and influence of FCC insights for business development and client engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective communication and maximize impact of FCC content.
  • Engage with senior business, government, and academic stakeholders through various forums and media.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with thought leaders, policymakers, and partners; represent Deloitte publicly as needed.

Candidate Profile

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree with exceptional academic achievements, preferably in economics or public policy.
  • Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in government, politics, government relations, consulting, or corporate strategy.
  • Proven leadership of diverse, hybrid teams and cross-functional projects.
  • Strong ability to cultivate and leverage strategic networks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with executive presence and C-suite engagement experience.
  • Innovative thinker capable of proposing new ideas and solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management abilities across teams.
  • Proficiency in English; French skills preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this role ranges from $140,000 to $260,000, with eligibility for bonus programs. Deloitte provides a comprehensive rewards package beyond salary, including up to $4,000 annually for mental health benefits, a $1,300 flexible spending account, firm-wide closure days, dedicated learning days, and flexible work arrangements including hybrid work options.
