Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) - Southeast Asia

Overview and Role Significance

This critical position is responsible for enhancing visibility on the financial performance of Southeast Asia (SEA) operations to Global Finance and SEA Management. It provides vital analytical support for strategic decisions across the region, overseeing performance management, budgeting, forecasting, and consolidation activities in line with global finance standards.

The role's foundation is built on ensuring consistency, transparency, and alignment with globally standardized procedures in financial planning, analysis, and reporting while collaborating with relevant stakeholders.

It supports the Senior Director Finance and SEA senior leadership by delivering business updates and tailored ad hoc presentations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Administer standardized monthly financial forecasting, reporting processes and partner with business units and senior management facilitating fact-based decision making.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to commercial, marketing, and finance teams by providing insights on actual reporting, potential risks and opportunities, and budget management.
• Coordinate and execute SEA’s budgeting cycle.
• Ensure timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing reports complying with Group policies along with comprehensive commentary.
• Report on globally aligned KPIs for short-term and long-term strategic planning consistent with global frameworks.
• Regularly update Group Finance with management information reflecting actual performance and forecasts through detailed analyses.
• Collaborate with global corporate functions including IT, Logistics, and Legal to support financial operations.
• Oversee operating working capital by analyzing receivables, overdue accounts, inventory status, accounts payable, and clearance stocks supporting decision-making with business partners across SEA.
• Control cash flow and prepare comprehensive margin and budget analyses (Standard Margin, Net Margin, Operating Overhead, Marketing Budget, Brand/Category) collaboratively with SEA countries.
• Identify and propose actionable improvements based on variance analysis to optimize financial outcomes.
• Develop innovative processes, methodologies, analytical tools, standards, and operational plans impacting departmental and organizational goals.
• Support SEA countries on accounting treatments ensuring compliance with group-wide regulations.
• Monitor, approve, and report on capital expenditures across all SEA subsidiaries.
• Manage direct-to-consumer (DTC) channel analysis, reporting, and retail channel controlling including business performance management, rollout plans, and impairment tests ensuring connectivity with global retail leadership.
• Supervise travel and entertainment (T&E) expenditures, providing detailed reporting for all subsidiaries.
• Act as a central liaison between SEA countries and headquarters for consolidating financial results and information exchange.
• Lead medium to large scale projects, drive implementation of findings and maintain sustainable results.
• Perform order-book and backorder analysis to assess risks and opportunities.
• Coach and mentor junior team members, enhancing their capabilities.

• Timely delivery of management reports.
• Precision in actual reporting and validation of forecasts.
• Accuracy in validating budget inputs compared with actual and forecast data.
• Adherence to reporting deadlines.

Key Internal and External Collaborations

• Engage regularly with the Senior Director Finance, SEA Finance Team, market finance teams, and Managing Directors.
• Partner with Market Commercial teams, Internal Control & Profit Protection teams, Corporate Finance teams, Group Finance, and Global Sales departments for Retail and Wholesale.
• Coordinate with external consultants and internal and external auditors.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Strong presentation skills, capable of addressing senior management and diverse stakeholders effectively.
• Deep understanding of business operations and organizational structures in complex geographical areas.
• Knowledge of currency effects and exchange rates impacting business activities in SEA.
• A collaborative mindset to work closely with senior finance leaders at both market and global levels.
• Strategic thinking capability combined with the ability to formulate and execute operational plans.
• Excellent analytical skills managing large datasets from various sources.
• Effective written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and persuasive presentation abilities.
• Flexibility to operate cross-functionally within a dynamic business environment.
• Strong customer orientation and relationship management skills.

Educational Background & Experience

• Advanced degree or professional qualification in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
• 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in controlling or business analysis.
• Preferably industry experience in apparel, fashion, consumer goods, or FMCG sectors.
• Proficient accounting knowledge and practical experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with SAP and other finance-related systems or analytic tools is highly advantageous.
