Job description
About the company
Obsidian Security is a leading SaaS security platform used by major enterprise customers including Snowflake, T-Mobile, and Algolia. The company protects more than 200 organizations across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, including many Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 businesses.
Established in 2017 and supported by investors such as Greylock, Obsidian was created to solve a key problem in SaaS security: protecting business-critical applications like Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and many others. Its platform helps organizations lower risk, identify and respond to threats, and stop breaches before they start. The leadership team includes veterans from CrowdStrike, Okta, Cylance, and Carbon Black, and the company is now reshaping how SaaS environments are secured.
As SaaS adoption expands through AI and complex integrations, agentic AI tools can gain privileged access to sensitive information, creating risks that many security products do not address. Obsidian focuses on detecting abnormal OAuth token behavior and managing integration-related exposure. With strong momentum, an expanding partner network that includes SentinelOne, Databricks, and Google Cloud, and a major fundraise approaching, the company is scaling quickly toward long-term growth and IPO readiness.
Role overview
This position is a senior finance leadership role that partners closely with the executive team to improve forecasting discipline, strengthen performance analysis, guide capital allocation, and build scalable planning infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings deep B2B SaaS finance experience along with the speed and adaptability of a startup environment and the rigor expected in public-company settings.
You will build and evolve forecasting frameworks, introduce AI-powered analytics into finance workflows, and help leaders make faster, better decisions through strong data insights. The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the organization’s financial planning, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
- Take ownership of the annual operating plan, quarterly forecast cycles, scenario planning, and board materials.
- Build and maintain long-term cash flow, profitability path, working capital, and runway models.
- Work with the CEO, CFO, and senior leadership to align financial plans with business growth goals.
- Support decisions related to pricing, go-to-market spend, R&D priorities, and capital allocation.
- Develop detailed analysis of business metrics, benchmarks, and company KPI performance.
- Put in place reporting, control, and review standards suited to a public-company environment.
- Incorporate AI and automation into forecasting, variance review, and scenario modeling workflows.
- Collaborate with IT/Systems and R&D leaders to create AI-first improvements for FP&A processes, systems, tooling, and data architecture.
- Spot efficiency opportunities and align roadmaps for major planning responsibilities.
- Perform advanced analysis on financial data to generate insights that inform strategy and decision-making.
- Partner with the data team to build real-time dashboards and self-service analytics for business leaders.
- Serve as a data-driven advisor to leadership across R&D, Sales & Marketing, and G&A functions.
Candidate profile
The role is based in Palo Alto and follows a hybrid setup, though fully remote arrangements can also be discussed.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Strong financial modeling ability, including building a three-statement model from the ground up and stress-testing assumptions.
- Experience leading or heavily supporting annual planning and long-range planning cycles.
- Solid grasp of SaaS metrics and the drivers of revenue, cost, and efficiency in software companies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to turn complex financial information into clear executive and board-level narratives.
- A bachelor’s degree is required, with accounting or finance preferred.
- Background in investment banking and/or progress toward CPA or CFA is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of corporate finance and accounting concepts.
- Experience working with external auditors and audit-related processes.
- Comfort with FP&A platforms such as Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, or similar tools, plus advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills; SQL experience is a plus.
Benefits
Employees in the US receive a competitive benefits package designed to support well-being both at work and at home.
- Competitive pay with equity and 401(k).
- Medical coverage with dental and vision benefits.
- Flexible paid time off plus paid company holidays.
- 12 weeks of leave for new parents or family care.
- Resources for personal and professional growth.
Pay transparency
The listed base pay is a guideline only. For anyone hired, the actual salary will depend on factors such as work location, as well as the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, the role is eligible for equity awards and may also qualify for sales commission or other incentive pay depending on the job function.
Base salary range: USD 220,000 to USD 250,000.
