Job description

About the organization

Export Development Canada (EDC) helps Canadian companies compete and grow internationally by providing financial solutions and commercial expertise that support expansion into new markets and help manage risk. EDC is a Crown corporation focused on strengthening Canada’s economy through trade.

Role overview

EDC is hiring a permanent Director, Digital Technology & Advanced Manufacturing to join the Sectors and International Advisory team within the Mid-Market Group. In this leadership role, you will help shape and execute sector strategies that create export opportunities for Canadian businesses in digital technology and advanced manufacturing. The position relies heavily on collaboration, influence, and the ability to mobilize internal subject matter experts and external relationships to drive measurable business outcomes.

Compensation

The salary range for this leadership band is typically between 129,928 and 190,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. The package also includes a performance-based incentive.

Work location and arrangement

This role follows EDC’s hybrid work model, with a current expectation of three in-office days each week, though this may change. The job may be based at EDC headquarters in Ottawa or at one of the Community Hubs in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, Laval, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, or Vancouver. Relocation support may be provided for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

What you will do

  • Set and execute the organization’s strategy for engagement with the digital technology and advanced manufacturing sectors, with a focus on outcomes such as customer engagement and business enablement.
  • Lead both direct team members and a wider network of subject matter experts, in formal and informal settings.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and insights across sector teams through virtual communities of practice.
  • Oversee partnership-based delivery models that support business priorities.
  • Create tools and methods that help Mid-Market teams achieve their goals for capital deployment, connections, and market expansion, including referral processes.
  • Drive EDC’s Canadian exporter side of the Business Connection Program and related strategic initiatives.
  • Promote innovation, process improvement, and stronger coordination across teams to make the best use of available capacity and identify synergies.

What we are looking for

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree, or an equivalent professional designation, in a relevant field.
  • At least 10 years of combined experience in business development and technical advisory work related to digital technology, advanced technologies, or advanced manufacturing.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong understanding of sales and/or account management best practices.
  • A well-established global professional network and solid technical and commercial knowledge gained through directly relevant work.
  • Proven success working in a matrixed environment and leading virtual teams through influence.
  • Bilingual communication ability in English and French, with at least B2-level speaking proficiency.

Preferred qualifications

  • Familiarity with EDC’s products, services, and programs.
  • Technical understanding of supply chains developed through direct experience in the Canadian exporter ecosystem.

Eligibility

Preference will be given to candidates who are legally able to work in Canada at the time of application, specifically Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Applicants must also meet government security screening requirements. Only candidates who satisfy all essential qualifications and apply by the closing date will be considered.

Application deadline: June 25, 2026.
