Its Infrastructure Services organization is responsible for planning, building, delivering, and running AWS’s global infrastructure, including the data centers and the power, cooling, storage, and networking systems that keep customer services available around the clock.
AWS is hiring a senior leader to head Energy & Water for the EMEA region. This position sits at the crossroads of renewable energy, data center infrastructure, and climate-focused innovation. The role is designed to advance AWS’s goal of running on 100% renewable energy while maintaining strong reliability and cost performance.

- A team of energy specialists focused on renewable energy delivery and long-term energy planning.

About the team
The AWS Energy team ensures that AWS data centers receive dependable, sustainable, and cost-effective power worldwide. The group works with utilities, developers, and technology partners to improve how data centers are powered, with the EMEA organization operating across a wide range of energy markets, laws, and cultural settings.
Responsibilities
- Lead the EMEA energy strategy and guide the team responsible for delivery and operations.
- Develop and execute renewable energy solutions aligned with Amazon’s climate and renewable goals.
- Strengthen energy reliability and resilience for AWS data centers across the region.
- Own the EMEA water strategy and ensure water infrastructure keeps pace with growth.
- Improve power delivery, grid coordination, procurement, and overall cost efficiency.
- Build partnerships and influence energy policy across varied regulatory environments.
- Coordinate multiple parallel initiatives while maintaining quality, schedule, scope, and budget discipline.
- Work effectively across technical and business stakeholders and manage a multinational team.
Basic qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Economics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in sustainability, energy, or a similar discipline.
- Background in project management or technical program management with proven delivery against scope, timeline, budget, and quality.
- Strong experience in building teams and leading people.
- Ability to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Capability to manage several concurrent projects with strong communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Results-driven mindset with solid analytical ability and financial understanding.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience creating and executing large-scale global or regional energy strategies.
- History of identifying and delivering innovative renewable generation projects.
- Experience developing strategic energy sourcing opportunities.
- Track record of managing energy projects to meet commitments, savings targets, and sustainability goals.
- Experience working with utility regulators and government bodies to shape policies and guidelines.
