Job description
Role Overview
The Designer for Kids Accessories is tasked with the creation and development of seasonal accessory products for boys and girls. This role requires onsite presence at the New York City office.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct seasonal research on trends, colors, and materials specifically suited for children's accessories.
- Design various accessories including bags, duffels, handbags, hats, bag charms, and belts from concept to production stages.
- Produce detailed sketches, CAD illustrations, and thorough technical packages and specification sheets to guide development.
- Maintain daily communications with factories overseas to support production, resolve issues, and ensure that the design vision is faithfully executed.
- Work collaboratively with production teams and other cross-functional groups to guarantee timely and precise delivery of products.
- Partner with sourcing teams to select materials, trims, hardware, yarns, and fabrications that meet both design objectives and budget constraints.
- Create prints, graphics, and surface decorations as needed for products.
- Effectively manage several categories and seasonal timelines concurrently, meeting demanding deadlines.
- Keep current on competitors, market trends, and consumer insights related to the junior market.
- Handle multiple assignments and project deadlines with appropriate resources and support.
- Perform additional duties or special projects when assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Fashion Design, Accessories Design, or a related field is preferred.
- Between four and six years of professional experience specifically in kids’ accessories design.
- Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Ability to quickly and clearly produce digital sketches.
- Experience in direct, daily communications with overseas manufacturing partners.
- Proven capability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Positive, proactive approach with a team-oriented mindset and a willingness to learn.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary is anticipated to be within $80,000 to $85,000 annually, dependent on factors such as skills, training, experience, education, and organizational structure.
