About Power and the Mission

Power is dedicated to simplifying clinical trial discovery for patients, particularly those dealing with depression and anxiety. The company addresses a critical bottleneck in medical innovation—delays in clinical trials due to patient recruitment challenges. Power’s platform makes accessing promising new medical studies easier, accelerating research and providing hope for patients whose standard treatments have failed.

Role Overview

As a Design Product Manager focused on patient experience, you will spearhead efforts to create an intuitive and supportive interface for patients facing serious illnesses. This role offers the opportunity to lead research, collaborate across teams, and refine the product both strategically and on an interaction level, ensuring excellence in visual design and usability within a rapidly expanding company of about 30 members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct research initiatives to understand obstacles patients encounter when searching for, evaluating, and enrolling in clinical trials.
  • Drive exploration of solutions aimed at eliminating these patient friction points.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and maintain attention to qualitative and quantitative data following product releases.
  • Work cooperatively with product managers and designers to build a robust clinical research network.

Core Challenges and Projects

  • Revamping the clinical trial search experience to improve intuitiveness in discovery and comparison.
  • Enhancing patient communications throughout their engagement with Power.
  • Redesigning clinical trial profile pages for clarity and relevance of critical information.
  • Developing educational content supporting patients at various stages of the clinical trial process.
  • Identifying and removing barriers in the account creation process to increase patient matching success.
  • Building patient trust to encourage comfort in sharing sensitive medical information vital for trial matching.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience with consumer product design, understanding how to craft engaging and delightful user experiences.
  • Ability to balance high-level strategic objectives with detailed feature-level work.
  • Comfort in leading independent user research and articulating findings clearly across the team.
  • Capacity to envision ideal outcomes and break them down into prioritized, actionable steps based on impact and effort.
  • Skill in managing projects both independently and collaboratively, balancing speed, design quality, and business goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Personal connection to clinical research through family or friends.
  • Knowledge of marketplace models, clinical research, or broader health technology sectors.
  • Unique complementary skills or areas of expertise to enhance the team.
  • Interest in relevant literature such as nutrition, supplements, or sleep.

Why Join Power?

  • Your contributions directly support thousands of patients weekly, with significant impact on enrollment rates for depression trials nationally.
  • A positive team culture where members enjoy working together and engaging with a large group of enthusiastic users providing valuable feedback.
  • An office located in San Francisco’s North Beach providing an energizing work environment.
  • A chance to address complex, under-designed challenges in the clinical trial space focused on usability for an older median patient age.

The Team

Power’s team consists of seasoned marketplace operators and experts backed by top-tier health tech and pharmaceutical investors.
