Job description

Role Overview

This position involves enhancing the Monetary Authority of Singapore's (MAS) data management framework by applying statistical techniques and technology to elevate data quality, accessibility, and usability.

Team Context

The Statistician role is situated within the Economics & Knowledge Management Group's Statistics Team, which gathers and prepares financial statistics from institutions to support regulatory reports, analysis, and policymaking for Singapore's financial sector.

Key Responsibilities

The role requires developing and improving MAS's data framework by addressing statistical challenges in traditional and emerging financial areas. This includes collecting, validating, cleaning, imputing, and correcting data anomalies to ensure datasets are robust for analytical purposes. The analyst will apply modern tools, programming languages, and data science methods to analyze data for insights and facilitate data-driven decisions. Additionally, findings should be communicated clearly through compelling narratives tailored to stakeholders.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Accountancy, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong aptitude for integrating technology solutions in work processes.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language and one data visualization tool is preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative and innovative approach.
  • Eagerness to learn, adaptability, and ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced, and agile environment.

Contract and Additional Notes

This is a two-year contract role situated in a high-demand setting requiring multi-tasking and stakeholder management agility.
