What the role involves
This is a significant leadership opportunity for someone who is passionate about continuous improvement and improving outcomes for all students. The Deputy Principal will help lead strategic school improvement, strengthen belonging and engagement, and advance a whole-school pedagogy agenda.
Key duties
- Work with the Principal to provide strategic, operational, and instructional leadership that supports continuous improvement and better student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
- Drive the school’s strategic priorities, including a whole-school pedagogy model, student engagement through multi-tiered supports, and a culture built on high expectations, accountability, and ongoing improvement.
- Develop the capability of middle leaders and teaching teams through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and targeted professional learning.
- Lead strong teaching, learning, assessment, and moderation practices using evidence and data to improve student achievement and growth.
- Implement evidence-informed Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to improve student engagement, belonging, and inclusion.
- Provide line management and strategic direction for Heads of Department, Heads of Year, and other key staff, ensuring leadership practice aligns with school priorities.
- Develop effective partnerships with students, families, staff, and the wider community to build trust, engagement, and shared responsibility for student success.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and values-based learning culture where every student can access, participate, engage, and achieve.
Portfolio responsibilities
- Year 8 cohort leadership, with the possibility of change to support cohort progression.
- Whole-school approach to pedagogy, specifically The Learner.
- Whole-school student belonging and engagement through MTSS.
- Workplace Health and Safety practices.
- Line management of core learning area faculties and LOTE / Education Queensland International (EQi).
