Job description
Role Overview
Support the implementation of anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CFT) monitoring strategies to ensure the organization's adherence to regulatory standards. Assist in maintaining and updating policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with the latest regulatory requirements and operational realities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Help maintain current AML/CFT policies and procedures, evaluating internal controls and recommending improvements where gaps are found.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations impacting the business and help incorporate necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
- Provide compliance support on regulatory matters, collaborating closely with the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
- Serve as the primary liaison between the company, Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), regulators, and other relevant state authorities regarding AML/CFT matters.
- Coordinate efforts to manage money laundering risks within specific business units and promote a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
- Assist in fostering an effective risk-based approach to money laundering and terrorism financing by conducting risk assessments on customers, products, and services.
- Ensure operational compliance with policies and monitor their ongoing development.
- Participate in staff training programs related to AML and terrorism financing prevention to guarantee all relevant employees are adequately educated.
- Act as an Approved Person responsible for Controlled Function SMF17, overseeing AML preventive measures.
- Support investigation and evaluation of internal suspicious transaction reports.
- Respond swiftly to information requests from FIU, Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA), and other state bodies regarding AML/CFT issues.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of all required reports in alignment with company and regulatory expectations.
- Represent the AML function in internal and external committees and meetings to address relevant matters efficiently.
- Perform other duties with similar nature or related to the department within the scope of the role and the individual's expertise.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree required, preferably a Master’s in Law, Economics, or Political Science.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in Compliance roles, especially involving Market Abuse, AML/CFT, and regulatory risk analysis.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Compliance and AML regulatory frameworks, including Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) guidelines.
- Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders across various departments effectively.
- Capacity to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge amid evolving internal and external regulatory environments.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with professionalism in interactions at committee and senior management levels.
