Job description

Role overview

ACE Money Transfer IE Ltd is hiring a senior Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer for its Dublin operation. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Dublin, Ireland, working in a hybrid setup. The business is a Central Bank of Ireland-regulated payment institution and forms the European hub of the wider ACE Money Transfer group, a major international remittance provider serving customers across South Asia, Africa, and other regions.

The position sits at the centre of the organisation’s financial crime control function. You will support the Head of AML/Compliance in meeting anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing obligations under Irish legislation and Central Bank of Ireland guidance. The role carries day-to-day ownership of the AML/CFT framework, responsibility for suspicious transaction reporting, support for regulatory dealings with the Central Bank, and wider involvement in building financial crime awareness across the company.

This is a high-responsibility post with a high level of autonomy, visibility at Board level, and involvement in a growing leadership team.

Benefits

The role includes pension, private healthcare, annual leave, support for continuous professional development, and funding for AML certification.

AML/CFT framework and governance

  • Support the Head of AML/Compliance in maintaining and strengthening the company’s AML/CFT framework in line with Central Bank of Ireland expectations and relevant EU anti-money laundering rules.
  • Help prepare management information for the Board and contribute to governance reporting on AML/CFT risk, trends, and indicators.
  • Draft the annual MLRO/Compliance Officer report and provide ongoing Board-level updates on AML/CFT matters.
  • Review changes in Central Bank of Ireland, EBA, and FATF guidance, carrying out gap analyses so the framework remains aligned with supervisory and legal standards.

Regulatory engagement and supervision

  • Assist with Central Bank of Ireland inspections, Risk Evaluation Questionnaires, and other supervisory interactions.
  • Act as a main contact for AML/CFT-related regulatory queries and support the Head of AML/Compliance during discussions with the regulator.
  • Submit recurring regulatory returns, including PIEMI reporting, and coordinate evidence gathering for inspections, requests, and ad hoc queries.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of AML/CFT reporting to the Central Bank, ensuring source data is reliable and all submissions are fully traceable.

Suspicious transaction reporting

  • Receive internal suspicious transaction reports as the delegated recipient, investigate them, and file reports with the Garda Financial Intelligence Unit and Revenue Commissioners when required.
  • Maintain an effective end-to-end process linking customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, and suspicious transaction reporting.
  • Keep detailed STR registers and supporting records in line with Irish regulatory record-keeping obligations.

Customer due diligence and risk assessment

  • Oversee the use of CDD, SDD, and EDD controls so they remain appropriate for the business model, customer base, and approved risk appetite.
  • Apply a risk-based approach to customer and transaction monitoring assessments, including enhanced checks for PEPs and other elevated-risk cases.
  • Help shape the Business Risk Assessment so it reflects remittance risks, cross-border corridors, and changes in the customer profile.

Sanctions and compliance

  • Ensure compliance with EU funds transfer rules and Irish financial sanctions requirements, including obligations connected to designated persons and sanctioned jurisdictions.
  • Monitor relevant sanctions lists from OFAC, the EU, the UN, and HM Treasury, and manage escalation steps for potential matches.

Training, data, and product governance

  • Develop and deliver AML/CFT training for Ireland-based staff, covering the Business Risk Assessment, internal suspicious transaction reporting, and whistleblowing procedures.
  • Work with the Data Protection Officer to ensure AML/CFT data handling complies with GDPR and other applicable privacy laws.
  • Review new products, services, and corridors for AML/CFT risks before launch and ensure compliance sign-off is built into product governance.

Monitoring, testing, and assurance

  • Lead the compliance monitoring and testing plan for AML/CFT controls, tracking findings through to closure and escalating issues where necessary.
  • Prepare thematic reviews and post-incident assurance work when assigned by the Head of AML/Compliance.

Qualifications and experience

A bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a similar subject is required. A professional AML qualification such as CAMS or the ICA International Diploma in Anti-Money Laundering is required; candidates without the certification may still be considered if they can show a clear commitment to obtaining it within 12 months of joining. A postgraduate qualification in compliance, financial regulation, or AML would be an advantage.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of AML/CFT compliance experience in an Irish or EU regulatory environment. Experience in or alongside a Central Bank of Ireland-regulated firm is important, along with practical knowledge of PCF obligations, CBI supervisory expectations, regulatory questionnaires, and inspections. Background in money remittance, payment institutions, or broader financial services is strongly preferred. Experience filing STRs with the Garda FIU and interacting with law enforcement in Ireland is also expected.

Skills and personal qualities

The role calls for strong knowledge of Irish and EU AML/CFT laws, FATF standards, and payment services regulation. You should be able to assess and reduce money laundering and terrorist financing risk across remittance corridors, work confidently with transaction data, and identify suspicious patterns. Clear written and verbal communication is essential, particularly when dealing with the regulator, Board members, and senior leadership. You will need to balance independence with effective collaboration across AML, Risk, Operations, Product, and the UK business. Familiarity with transaction monitoring platforms and financial crime systems is important, along with sound judgement, discretion, and a high level of personal integrity.

Equal opportunities

ACE Money Transfer IE Ltd is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
