About The Role

The Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team at MakeMyTrip is a key driver of strategic growth, focusing on sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments, acquisitions, and partnerships that align with the company's broader long-term goals. The team conducts thorough market analysis, sector studies, financial modeling, valuations, and due diligence to assess the suitability and financial soundness of opportunities. Collaboration with various internal departments such as business, finance, legal, as well as with leadership, is essential to successfully structure and close deals. Furthermore, the team is engaged in the post-transaction phase, assisting with integration and continuously monitoring investment performance to foster ongoing value creation and efficient capital utilization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify potential investment and acquisition opportunities both domestically and internationally through systematic market scanning.
  • Conduct comprehensive sector analysis covering drivers of value, inherent risks, competitive environments, global benchmarks, and valuation metrics.
  • Originate deals by nurturing relationships within startup communities and investment ecosystems including entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, bankers, incubators, and accelerators.
  • Develop detailed financial models and craft investment documentation such as Investment Committee notes and memoranda.
  • Manage all stages of the investment process, including sourcing, valuation, due diligence, deal structuring, execution, and integration.
  • Work cross-functionally to evaluate strategic alignment, financial viability, and transactional risks, preparing recommendations for leadership decision-making.
  • Oversee post-investment performance by collaborating with portfolio companies and internal stakeholders to realize and sustain value creation.
  • Partner with senior management to refine corporate strategies and explore both organic and inorganic growth avenues.
  • Perform competitive benchmarking and maintain ongoing market intelligence assessments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBA, CA, or CFA qualification coupled with 5 to 6 years of relevant experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, or transaction advisory roles.
  • Solid expertise in financial modeling, including valuation techniques such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), comparable multiples, and transaction comparables, alongside comprehensive due diligence experience.
  • Exceptional skills in Excel and PowerPoint to produce sophisticated financial models and high-caliber investment presentations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities, with proven experience collaborating with leadership, external advisors, and cross-functional teams throughout transaction processes.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Deep financial acumen with an understanding of key cost drivers and strong business insight.
  • Proactive approach with a high ownership mentality and initiative to drive projects independently.
  • Adept at working collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Analytical mindset combined with structured problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Skilled at creating concise and insightful presentations tailored for senior executive audiences.
