Role overview
A leading four-star hotel in Galway City is seeking a Deputy General Manager to join its senior leadership team. This full-time permanent position reports to the General Manager and is focused on ensuring smooth day-to-day hotel operations through close collaboration with experienced Heads of Department.
The successful candidate will be a commercially minded, people-focused leader who can uphold operational standards, lift team performance, and create excellent guest experiences across the property. Strong hotel operations expertise, proven leadership, and the ability to build a positive, collaborative culture in a busy environment are essential.

Key responsibilities
- Support the General Manager and step in as needed for the overall running of the hotel
- Lead, coach, and guide Heads of Department across all operational functions
- Promote a workplace culture built on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Make sure guest service standards are consistently delivered at a high level
- Review and interpret departmental and hotel-wide financial performance
- Help deliver revenue growth, profitability targets, and strong cost control
- Drive staff development, succession planning, and engagement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, fire safety, food safety, and all legal obligations
- Maintain strong operational standards, policies, and procedures throughout the hotel
- Work with senior leaders to identify efficiency gains and support business growth
Requirements
- At least 3–4 years of experience in a Deputy General Manager, Operations Manager, Hotel Manager, or similar senior hospitality leadership role
- Solid working knowledge of all hotel departments
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop management teams
- Commercial awareness with experience in budgets, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to perform effectively in a large, high-volume hospitality setting
- Experience in a city-centre hotel, conference hotel, or events-led property is desirable
- Strong Food & Beverage operational background is desirable
- Third-level qualification in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field is desirable
