Role Overview
This position is focused on strengthening contract governance, supporting project and business teams, and ensuring disputes and claims are handled in a structured and consistent way. The role also aims to improve commercial outcomes by reducing avoidable claims, limiting dispute exposure, and helping the organization respond to contract risks more effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the business in maintaining clear alignment and timely decisions on contract-related matters.
- Offer direction, coordination, and oversight on contract governance across teams and functions.
- Advise on dispute handling methods, contract interpretation, and risk control measures.
- Provide functional support for contract management activities.
- Help align stakeholders on dispute strategy and position-setting.
- Assist business teams in resolving complex contract issues.
- Serve as a coordination point for major claims and disputes.
Disputes and Claims Management
- Review every dispute and claim and classify it by value, risk exposure, and possible precedent impact.
- Route high-value disputes or matters with precedent implications to the central level so they are managed with a consistent approach across the organization.
- Handle dispute and claim matters through a collaborative process that supports a clear stance and informed decision-making.
- Work with the Corporate Legal Team or outside experts when a dispute is significant.
- Maintain visibility into current exposure and case status.
- Capture and share lessons learned across businesses.
- Identify early any matter that needs support or escalation.
Dispute Prevention and Contract Readiness
- Ensure contractual notices are issued on time.
- Maintain proper contemporaneous documentation and records.
- Spot emerging claims at an early stage.
- Conduct periodic reviews to track progress, challenges, and possible settlement or resolution paths.
Governance and Review Cadence
- Participate in periodic discussions on major disputes.
- Lead monthly reviews with businesses on contract risk and readiness.
- Support quarterly business-level reviews to identify patterns, trends, and improvement opportunities.
