Job description

About the Organisation

Ballina Shire Council serves a lively coastal community on the Far North Coast of New South Wales, about 20 minutes from Byron Bay and roughly an hour from the Gold Coast. The area is known for its tourism appeal, featuring clean beaches, rainforest escapes and scenic hinterland locations. This role offers the chance to build a career while enjoying a coastal lifestyle.

About the Role

Council is seeking a proactive and service-focused person with a strong commitment to safety to join its Facilities Management team. The Depot Services Officer is responsible for helping maintain depot buildings, grounds and amenities so that operations remain secure, efficient, well kept and safe.

A major part of the position is contributing to a safe workplace across Council depot sites while providing quality service to Council staff, contractors and visitors.

What You Will Bring

  • A work style that reflects Council’s values of creativity, accessibility, respect, energy and safety.
  • Hands-on experience in a depot or a similar operational environment.
  • Willingness and ability to carry out physically demanding labouring work.
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine customer service approach.
  • Ability to work effectively on your own as well as cooperatively within a team.
  • Good computer skills, including confidence using Microsoft 365 and other business systems.
  • A current forklift licence, or the willingness to obtain one.

Rewards and Benefits

  • Annual salary between $59,300 and $68,000, plus 12% superannuation, depending on experience and skills.
  • Flexible working options designed to support work-life balance, including a rostered day off arrangement such as a 9-day fortnight or 4-day week.
  • Stable employment within a supportive, values-led workplace.
  • Access to health and wellbeing initiatives, including Fitness Passport options.
  • Work that contributes meaningfully to the sustainability and liveability of the region.
  • Uniform and personal protective equipment supplied.
  • An inclusive environment where diversity is respected and all employees are valued.
  • Strong emphasis on employee safety and wellbeing.
  • Generous employment conditions under the relevant award.
