Job description
Overview
As the Department Head for Sheet Metal at Designco under Lohia Farm, you will oversee the comprehensive production operations involving sheet metal fabrication, ensuring targets related to quality, cost, delivery, safety, and productivity are met effectively. This leadership role reports directly to the Plant Head or Operations Head.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all activities within the sheet metal production areas including Press Shop, Fabrication, Welding, and Assembly.
- Achieve production goals while maintaining optimal standards in quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Plan and allocate manpower, machinery, and materials necessary for seamless operations.
- Collaborate with supporting departments such as Tool Room, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Stores to ensure smooth workflow.
- Monitor critical indicators such as productivity, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), rejection rates, and downtime; develop and implement effective corrective measures.
- Promote and implement Lean Manufacturing methodologies, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), 5S program, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement strategies.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and legal regulations.
- Guide, develop, and mentor the team within the department to enhance performance and productivity levels.
- Compile and analyze production reports and key performance indicators to support organizational goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a B.E., B.Tech, or Diploma degree in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- Have 12 to 18 years of practical experience in sheet metal manufacturing, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity.
Skills Required
- Expertise in sheet metal manufacturing processes.
- Strong capability in production planning and control.
- Experience managing Press Shop, Fabrication, Welding, and Assembly operations.
- Proficient knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, TPM, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Ability to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and productivity.
- Competence in ensuring quality and safety compliance.
- Leadership skills with experience in team and people management.
- Familiarity with ERP/SAP systems and Microsoft Office tools.
Eligibility
Applicants should hold a B.Tech or B.E. degree in any specialization.
