Job description

Overview

Canna Cabana is looking for a dependable and customer-oriented Delivery Driver / Retail Shift Leader to work in Okotoks, Calgary, Alberta. This hybrid role combines in-store retail leadership with local cannabis delivery, and it is suited to someone who values compliance, safety, and strong service. The position is a full-time, permanent onsite role. Responsibilities are split between supporting store operations and completing cannabis deliveries in the community.

Retail Shift Leader Responsibilities

  • Support store leadership in running day-to-day store activities.
  • Take charge of the store’s duties when the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager is not available.
  • Help manage team performance during the shift and address customer service issues as they come up.
  • Guide, direct, and support store associates as needed.
  • Maintain store presentation and operating standards throughout the shift.
  • Act as the main example of sales and customer service excellence when senior management is absent.
  • Welcome customers and provide service that sets the standard for the team.
  • Ensure staff follow company rules and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Resolve customer complaints and escalate matters when appropriate.
  • Make sure health, safety, and security requirements are followed and standards are met.
  • Work toward sales goals and store KPI targets.
  • Keep the team focused on sales performance during the shift.
  • Support inventory control and take responsibility for inventory-related processes while on shift.

Cannabis Delivery Driver Responsibilities

  • Complete cannabis deliveries safely and on time, aiming to reach customers within 45 minutes of order placement.
  • Keep the delivery vehicle clean and organized.
  • Check customer identification before completing each delivery.
  • Follow assigned delivery routes, transportation rules, and safety procedures.
  • Use delivery apps and stay in contact with customers when needed.
  • Handle cash floats and accept payment where required.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school completion plus college, CEGEP, vocational, or technical training is required.
  • A valid driver’s licence and strong, safe driving ability are essential.
  • At least 2 years of retail work experience is required; experience in the cannabis industry is preferred.
  • A valid SellSafe certification for Alberta cannabis retail is mandatory.
  • A recent clean driving abstract is required, with no violations in the last 3 years and no major violations at any time.
  • 3 years of verifiable driving experience is preferred for insurance eligibility.
  • Defensive driving training is an advantage.
  • Valid First Aid certification is an asset.
  • A working smartphone with data plan and charger is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed.
  • Knowledge of local streets, neighborhoods, and delivery routes is important.
  • The role requires dependability, responsibility, and a high level of reliability.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, is necessary.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills are required.
  • A sales- and service-driven approach is expected.
  • Ability to stay effective in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment is important.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, multitasking, and time-management skills are needed.
  • Strong integrity, work ethic, and a professional, mature manner under pressure are required.
  • Willingness to be on call during 6 to 10-hour shifts is required.

  • Final candidates must meet commercial vehicle insurance eligibility requirements and be insurable under the company’s driver policy.
