Overview
The Dean of Student Culture supports the principal by leading cultural and administrative initiatives focused on student safety, well-being, social-emotional learning, school discipline, and overall school effectiveness. The role aims to foster a positive and robust learning environment across the school.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in a PK-12 educational setting.
- A Master’s Degree is preferred but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Upholding and promoting the mission, vision, and values of Harmony Public Schools.
- Acquiring Danielson certification within 3 months of starting the position.
- Serving on the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) to advance teaching excellence.
- Leading and encouraging a school-wide culture of learning among faculty and staff.
- Facilitating and attending data meetings at various levels including campus-wide and team-based.
- Conducting formal teacher observations, walkthroughs, and delivering continuous feedback to foster instructional improvement.
- Organizing and co-leading professional learning sessions and collaborating with PLC leaders for teacher development.
- Implementing instructional strategies, campus improvement plans, and supporting teacher microcredential advancement.
- Developing and enforcing student conduct guidelines and disciplinary policies to ensure a safe, orderly environment.
- Providing clear behavioral expectations and social-emotional support systems for students.
- Supervising classroom management and training staff on disciplinary procedures.
- Maintaining documentation of disciplinary actions and communicating with parents and key stakeholders about student discipline and safety.
- Monitoring school grounds for safety, overseeing attendance issues, recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts.
- Participating in hiring processes to recruit and retain quality teachers and staff, including supervising support personnel and performing evaluations.
- Leading social-emotional learning initiatives aligned with district priorities.
- Guiding the school through Character School application and designation processes at state and national levels.
- Cultivating strong relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members, encouraging their involvement.
- Attending professional meetings, conferences, and workshops to stay current and model continuous personal and professional development.
- Exemplifying highest ethical standards in interactions with all school community members.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of classroom management, school culture, and social-emotional learning programs.
- Familiarity with district policies and procedures.

- Strong written and oral communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Capacity to build and sustain collaborative relationships internally and externally.
- Competence in using computers, software applications including databases, spreadsheets, word processors, calculators, and office equipment.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Involves light physical activity including occasional lifting.
- May require attendance at night and weekend events.
- Primarily office-based with prolonged desk work.
- Position includes moderate travel requirements.
