Job description
Overview of Southbridge Public Schools
Southbridge Public Schools educates around 2,200 students across six schools. Currently, the district is undergoing a comprehensive transformation with support from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This situation offers unique opportunities for educators committed to advancing student learning and social justice. For instance, the district recently partnered with the University of Connecticut to serve as a national demonstration site for the successful application of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Additionally, substantial grants have been awarded to innovate secondary education, enhance curriculum, improve school culture, and expand afterschool activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the classroom setting to ensure an effective learning environment.
- Apply creative instructional methods and utilize technology to boost student engagement and confidence in learning.
- Perform other duties as assigned related to the role.
- Work collaboratively with Special Education (SPED) and English Language Learner (ELL) specialists to address individual student needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation as needed.
- Ensure equal educational opportunities regardless of race, gender, age, marital status, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability.
- Fulfill any additional responsibilities delegated by the Superintendent or designee.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's Degree is preferred.
- Must have citizenship, residency, or valid work visa in the United States.
- Possession of a valid Massachusetts teaching license appropriate to the grade levels is preferred but not mandatory.
