Job description
Overview
Join our team to lead the strategic development of energy and land procurement supporting data center expansion across the Asia-Pacific region. This role focuses on managing complex negotiations and agreements related to power and land, while establishing key partnerships with stakeholders such as government authorities, utilities, and property developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage power-related contracts and agreements from negotiation through to execution, including overseeing grid applications and interconnection processes.
- Lead the end-to-end sourcing and closing of land deals and agreements.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with government entities, utility providers, industrial park developers, landowners, consultants, and other developers to secure access to energy capacity and land under optimal terms.
- Collaborate with the regional public policy team to engage with energy regulators and contribute to policy discussions.
- Assist in evaluating potential data center sites by analyzing energy availability, land accessibility, costs, and associated risks across the APAC region.
- Monitor and analyze the regional energy sector including grid infrastructure, energy generation mix, and trends in decarbonization to guide investment strategies.
- Survey the availability of industrial and commercial land, and remain informed on permitting requirements and regulatory processes throughout APAC markets.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience, particularly in grid application processes and energy contracting for hyperscale data centers.
- Practical knowledge of land acquisition, industrial/commercial real estate transactions, or permitting in APAC markets.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of power sectors and renewable energy market dynamics.
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a rapidly evolving setting.
Additional Desired Skills
- Previous experience in similar data center or energy sector roles.
- Insight into industrial park development or land brokerage tailored to data centers in the region.
- Knowledge of behind-the-meter power generation research and analysis.
- Experience working with renewable energy projects or energy storage, involving solar, hydro, or related technologies.
- Readiness to travel with short notice when required.
