Job description
Company Overview
Our partner is a New York-based company specializing in audio and voice-focused human data. Operating more like a research lab rather than a typical service provider, they create and continually refine off-the-shelf data sets leveraging in-house research and product expertise. Long-term partnerships with leading research institutions and major tech firms enable focused and high-quality work.
Role Overview
The Data and Product Operations Lead is responsible for end-to-end ownership of data sets, managing their lifecycle from conception to delivery. Unlike traditional delivery roles, this position emphasizes treating the data itself as a product, collaborating extensively with product, research, engineering, and deployment teams to establish objectives and ensure the data meets stringent quality standards for machine learning training purposes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage data sets comprehensively, from initial concept through to final delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, research, and deployment to set clear goals for each data product.
- Oversee project management on the company’s data platform, coordinate onboarding of speakers, and supervise quality assurance processes.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to address bugs, reduce noise in data, and improve automation.
- Maintain a high-quality standard, prioritizing precision over speed and quantity.
- Partner with researchers and ML engineers to anticipate and solve issues related to data performance in model training.
- Participate in customer meetings when relevant to the project scope.
Candidate Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in consulting, strategy & operations, or roles with significant operational responsibilities.
- A versatile generalist comfortable navigating shifting priorities across multiple functions.
- Ability to manage demanding workloads and produce high output during peak periods.
- Possesses a humble, curious, and low-ego mindset.
- Preferred background includes private equity, investment banking, top-tier consulting with a strong promotion record, operations in two-sided marketplaces or heavily operational companies, or early-stage startup operations.
Additional Information
- Location: New York, NY (Hybrid work model)
- Industry: Artificial intelligence and human data focusing on audio and voice.
- Compensation: Base salary up to $200,000 annually plus equity participation.
