The team in Warrnambool, Victoria is seeking a Dairy Cattle Farm Operator to support daily farm operations and overall farm management.
Candidate profile
- You should be dependable, physically capable, and comfortable working collaboratively with others.
- A strong focus on cleanliness, precision, and adherence to established procedures is important for this role.
- You need to hold the right to work in Australia and be available for a 38-hour work week.
- At least 1 year of relevant prior experience is required.
- A Certificate II or III in Agriculture, or an equivalent qualification assessed by the relevant authority, is preferred but not mandatory.
- You must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screening and be prepared to complete a pre-employment medical assessment if needed.
- You should already have a Q Fever vaccination, or be willing to complete the vaccination process.
Key duties
- Support controlled breeding activities aimed at improving livestock quality and performance.
- Run milking plant and related equipment safely while recording operational details such as milk vat temperatures, cow counts, and calf identification links.
- Handle the dairy recycling process.
- Feed calves, including administering colostrum through tubing when required.
- Assist with irrigation tasks and related farm work.
- Check livestock conditions to help assess feed effectiveness.
- Handle, transport, store, prepare, and apply chemicals in accordance with procedures.
- Use farm and dairy shed vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
- Spot faulty equipment and report issues, while carrying out routine upkeep of plant and machinery.
- Where qualified, complete maintenance on sheds, fixtures, fencing, surrounding areas, and install replacement equipment or fittings.
- Move stock, feed, and equipment when appropriately licensed.
- Keep accurate records for stock and inventory management.
- Follow all food safety compliance requirements.
- Help implement occupational health and safety measures.
- Use computers and software for basic setup and routine operation.
- Support emergency response actions for both workplace safety incidents and animal welfare situations.
- Attend industry or enterprise training sessions and workshops as needed.
