Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit customs declarations using the Tanzania National Electronic Single Window (TANESW) platform.
• Ensure precise tariff classification, customs valuation, and adherence to applicable customs procedures.
• Manage import, export, transit, and warehousing declarations accurately.
• Communicate with regulatory bodies such as the Tanzania Revenue Authority, Tanzania Bureau of Standards, Government Chemist Laboratory Authority, and Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission to secure necessary permits and facilitate cargo clearance.
• Verify shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, and permits like COC and COA.
• Track declaration progress and address customs-related queries, including value adjustments, promptly.
• Comply with the East African Community Customs Management Act (EACCMA) and related customs regulations.
• Maintain detailed records of declarations and clearance documents.
• Provide clients with timely updates regarding shipment statuses.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Customs Administration, Clearing and Forwarding, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or similar fields.
• At least 3 years’ demonstrated experience as a Customs Declaration Officer.
• Proficient in using TANESW system and knowledgeable of customs declaration processes.
• Strong understanding of customs laws, tariffs, import/export regulations, and clearance procedures.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Capability to work efficiently under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
• High integrity, professionalism, and meticulous attention to detail.
