Job Summary
The Playout Executive is tasked with ensuring flawless broadcast playout operations, managing both live and prerecorded content transmission with a focus on quality and reliability. This includes constant system monitoring, scheduling, automation oversight, and rapid resolution of technical issues, alongside reporting on any on-air disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and supervise playout systems to guarantee precise and timely live and recorded content transmission.
- Handle live broadcast streams, adeptly switching between multiple sources, inserting commercials, promos, fillers, and managing live sports feeds.
- Confirm all content complies with formatting, timing, and broadcast schedule requirements.
- Conduct performance monitoring and routine technical inspections to maintain equipment in optimal working condition.
- Identify and resolve technical problems related to playout hardware and software, including video/audio quality issues.
- Collaborate with technical support teams for maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading equipment as necessary.
- Oversee and modify automated playout schedules to align with programming protocols.
- Create and update playlists and content logs, managing on-air timing and schedule adherence.
- Audit and enhance automation workflows to boost operational efficiency and broadcast reliability.
- Perform stringent quality assurance checks on transmitted content to uphold broadcast standards.
- Serve as the primary responder to playout emergencies, executing contingency plans to minimize broadcast disruptions.
- Maintain comprehensive records of playout operations, equipment status, incident logs, and generate performance reports for management review.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Broadcast Technology, Media Production, or related disciplines is required.
- Between 1 to 5 years of experience in broadcast playout operations, demonstrating expertise in handling complex systems and live transmissions.
- Proficient with playout automation software, broadcast equipment, video/audio codecs, signal flow, and compliance with broadcast standards.
- Exhibit strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address technical challenges promptly and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for coordination across departments and effective reporting.
Preferred Skills
- Advanced certifications in broadcast technology or pertinent fields.
- Experience with sophisticated playout systems and system integrations.
- Awareness of cutting-edge trends and technologies in the broadcasting sector.
Working Conditions
- This role may necessitate irregular hours, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Primarily office-based, with required onsite presence for equipment maintenance and urgent responses.
