Job description

Job Summary

This retail role at Whitemill is centered on delivering an excellent customer journey through a warm, approachable, and informed service style. You will support the Shop Manager and wider team in keeping the store operating smoothly, maintaining high standards across the day, handling bets and payouts, and providing strong customer care. The position also includes opening and closing the shop, and at times you may be asked to take responsibility for day-to-day shop operations.

What You Will Do

  • Support the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager with the daily running of the shop.
  • Take charge of shop operations when the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager are unavailable, including opening and closing duties, team coordination, and cash handling processes.
  • Deliver a high-quality customer experience through helpful, friendly, and informed interactions.
  • Process customer bets accurately and promptly across different channels, including betting terminals and in-store EPOS transactions, following procedure.
  • Represent the brand positively and help introduce customers to the digital and multi-channel experience.
  • Maintain shop presentation standards to a consistently high level throughout the working day.
  • Work calmly and effectively in a busy environment while looking for ways to improve your own performance and the shop's performance.
  • Follow all safety, compliance, and operational procedures at all times.
  • Work well as part of a team and support social responsibility obligations.
  • Promote the full range of in-shop and online products and services to customers.
  • Take part in training and on-the-job support to build skills and progress within the business.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant is customer-focused, trustworthy, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail setting. You should be confident with numbers, good with people, and able to work on your own initiative as well as collaboratively. A genuine interest in sport and the betting industry, along with the confidence to build rapport with customers, will be valuable in this role.
