You will support the Shop Manager and wider team in keeping the shop running smoothly, maintaining high standards, handling bets and payouts, and delivering strong customer service throughout the day.

The role also includes opening and closing the business, and there may be occasions when you are required to take charge of shop operations. This can provide further chances to develop and grow within the company.

Key duties

  • Support the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager with the day-to-day running of the shop.
  • Take responsibility for the shop when the managers are unavailable, including opening and closing the premises.
  • Lead and support the team as needed during the working day.
  • Follow cash-handling procedures carefully and accurately.
  • Process customer bets correctly and efficiently across different channels, including betting terminals and in-shop EPOS transactions.
  • Represent the brand positively and help customers explore the company’s digital and multi-channel services.
  • Maintain a calm, professional approach in a busy environment and look for ways to improve both personal performance and shop standards.
  • Keep the shop looking presentable and ensure high standards are upheld throughout the day.
  • Follow all safety, compliance, and operational procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team and support social responsibility commitments.
  • Introduce customers to the business’s in-shop and online products and services.

Skills, qualities, and experience

  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • High levels of trustworthiness and integrity.
  • Flexibility to work across a business that operates seven days a week.
  • Adaptability in a retail shop setting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and solid numeracy skills.
  • Positive people skills and the ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Interest in sport and sporting events, with confidence in building customer relationships.
  • Ambition and motivation to progress within the company.
  • A results-focused mindset and ability to represent the brand well.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving ability.
  • Good organisation, reliability, and dependability.
  • Sound cash-handling experience.

Training and background

Previous retail or industry experience is useful but not essential, as full training will be provided to build knowledge in sport and betting.
