Customer Delivery Driver - Plymouth Transit Way Superstore

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Customer Delivery Driver based at the Plymouth Transit Way Superstore. You will be working shifts within the set availability windows, delivering excellent service to customers by safely and efficiently transporting orders. The role involves a variety of tasks beyond driving, including customer communication and ensuring product care. It requires a hands-on approach and the ability to manage your time and workload independently with support from the management team.

Working Hours and Availability

• Sunday: 09:00 to 15:00
• Monday: 19:00 to 23:00
• Tuesday: 14:00 to 19:00
• Thursday: 19:00 to 23:00
• Friday: 19:00 to 23:00
• Saturday: 19:00 to 23:00

Contracted hours will be scheduled within these windows and communicated at least three weeks in advance. We value flexibility and encourage applicants to discuss any close but not exact availability to explore options.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery van and trays.
• Keep the back yard clean and clear of rubbish, including litter picking when needed.
• Ensure trays are washed according to the washing process.
• Load the van properly and check its roadworthiness before starting deliveries.
• Communicate with customers regarding order changes, substitutions, or any issues, including offering refunds when appropriate.
• Handle deliveries with care, treating products as if they were your own.
• Inform customers that substitutions will not incur additional charges.
• Deliver orders within the customer's allocated time slot.
• Contact customers prior to arrival if running early and notify the store if delivery is delayed over 30 minutes.

Requirements

• Hold a full UK/EU/EEA driving licence (manual or automatic) held for at least 12 months with no more than three penalty points.
• Adhere strictly to GB domestic driving laws and regulations.
• Demonstrate a warm and friendly attitude toward customers and coworkers, valuing teamwork and customer satisfaction.
• Be energetic, adaptable, and committed to exceeding customer expectations while balancing personal life and work.
• Collaborate with management and colleagues by sharing ideas to enhance store operations and customer service.

Benefits

• Competitive starting hourly pay of £14.18 outside the M25, increasing to £15.45 within it. Additional location-based payments may apply.
• A minimum guaranteed 16 hours of weekly work, with options for a minimum of 12 hours if preferred.
