Customer Delivery Driver (Permanent 30 - 35 Hours) - Mitchelstown

About the role

Tesco is looking for Customer Delivery Drivers to join its Mitchelstown team. The role is the first point of contact for customers and plays a key part in delivering a high-quality home shopping experience. It is a practical, active job with plenty of day-to-day variety, and no two shifts are the same.

While you will work independently on the road for much of the day, you will still have support from managers and colleagues based back at the store.

Core duties

• Make sure customers receive an excellent home delivery service, keeping them at the centre of everything you do.
• Load the delivery van when needed and check that the vehicle is roadworthy before setting off.
• Follow the route and schedule provided for each shift.
• Represent the company professionally by wearing the correct uniform and being ready to assist customers.
• Drive safely, responsibly, and in compliance with the law at all times.
• Be respectful and considerate to other road users.
• Greet customers warmly, including using their name where appropriate, and serve them with a smile.
• Handle deliveries carefully and treat each order as if it were your own.

Requirements

You will need to have held a full Irish or EU driving licence, manual or automatic, for at least 2 years, with no more than 3 penalty points. You should be a safe and courteous driver, enjoy helping people, and communicate well. The role also calls for initiative, common sense, a calm approach under pressure, and a genuine desire to make a difference for customers and colleagues.

Recruitment checks and conditions

All job offers are subject to Garda Vetting. At assessment stage, you must provide proof of your current penalty points, which can be requested from the National Driver Licence Services (NDLS) on 1890 41 61 41 by selecting Option 4 and quoting your driver number.

If you have been disqualified from driving at any point within the last 10 years, your application cannot be accepted. If you are successful, your offer will also depend on you supplying your bank account details before your agreed start date.
