Job description
Job Summary
The Custodial Lead is responsible for ensuring cleanliness and sanitation within designated areas and provides guidance to custodial team members.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine janitorial tasks according to daily schedules.
- Offer work direction and support to custodial staff as assigned by the Custodial Supervisor.
- Assist in staff scheduling and training in conjunction with the Custodial Supervisor.
- Operate motorized cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain and monitor equipment inventory, including tracking maintenance and repair needs.
- Organize cleanup and maintenance tasks when necessary.
- Ensure daily upkeep of assigned work areas.
- Manage supply inventory and help with the purchase of cleaning materials and equipment.
- Conduct quality, service, and safety inspections routinely.
- Report any incidents, unsafe conditions, employee issues, or customer concerns to the supervisor promptly.
- Supervise adherence to protective equipment usage and supply protocols among employees.
- Address unsafe behaviors immediately and inform supervisors of corrective actions needed.
- Provide suggestions for improvements in cleaning procedures and areas.
Candidate Qualifications
Education and Experience: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and have at least one year of relevant experience.
Certifications: CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are required. A valid driver’s license may be necessary. Completion of all mandatory safety and task-specific training is expected. Forklift certification might also be required.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficient at reading and interpreting instructions, manuals, and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Sound knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals with a willingness to share expertise.
- Experience in maintaining and caring for cleaning machinery.
- Understanding of safe and efficient use of cleaning agents and compounds.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- The role requires frequent sitting and communication activities.
- Candidates must be capable of lifting or moving objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
Schedule and Compensation
The position works Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Hourly pay ranges from $15 to $16.
