Curriculum Specialist for Grades 6-12 Science Education

Position Overview

New York Sun Works is looking for a motivated Curriculum Specialist to lead the implementation of sustainability and science curricula for grades 6 through 12 across its partner schools. This role focuses on educational innovation, teacher training, and alignment of curriculum materials with state and national standards to enhance science learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine high-quality science curriculum resources ensuring compliance with educational standards.
• Conduct professional development sessions and ongoing support for educators implementing the curriculum.
• Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with partner school educators and staff through regular communication.
• Engage with schools both in-person in NYC and virtually for meetings, workshops, and support activities.
• Manage project data and schedules using organizational tools to ensure accurate tracking and timely completion.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education, Science, Curriculum Development, or related discipline.
• At least three years of classroom teaching experience in science or related subjects for grades 6-12.
• Proven success in curriculum design and delivering training or coaching for educators.
• Strong commitment to K-12 science education, with special emphasis on sustainability and environmental topics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective mentorship and collaboration.
• Ability to independently manage multiple partnerships effectively while contributing as a team member.

Work Location and Hours

This is primarily an in-person role based in New York City with standard working hours from 9 AM to 5 PM. Flexibility for occasional remote work is available for travel or special circumstances.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary range from $60,000 to $70,000 USD.
