Overview
The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), a prominent public healthcare provider in Australia, invites passionate and devoted healthcare professionals to join its team. RMH operates as part of the Parkville Precinct, offering extensive specialist medical, surgical, mental health services, rehabilitation, aged care, and community programs.
Intensive Care Unit Details
The RMH Intensive Care Unit (ICU) contains 42 physical bed spaces and admits over 2,000 patients annually. It serves partners including the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Peter MacCallum Hospital, and the Women’s Hospital across the precinct.
Employment Conditions
- Full-time and part-time positions available
- Shift schedules include rotating 8- and 12-hour pattern rosters
- Salary range from $71,300 to $95,400 per annum (pro rata) depending on experience

Role Responsibilities
- Collaborate within a supportive ICU team environment delivering comprehensive care as part of a multidisciplinary medical team
- Advance patient health outcomes utilizing evidence-based nursing strategies and ongoing education
- Foster a positive educational atmosphere by supporting the growth and development of staff members
Candidate Requirements
- Postgraduate diploma or certificate in critical care nursing (ICU specialty)
- Minimum three years’ experience in acute critical care settings
- Available to begin employment within a three-month timeframe
- Demonstrate proficiency in patient-centered care, clinical reasoning, assessment, problem-solving, and prioritization
- Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills capable of working independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
