Job Overview
This position is accountable for preparing credit applications and designing facilities for Business Banking clients across diverse sectors. Responsibilities include managing credit risk through financial analyses, monitoring accounts, identifying early warning signals, and adhering to credit discipline while drafting credit proposals and associated documents. The role encompasses end-to-end activities in coordination with multiple departments such as Relationship Management, Financial Security and Audit Unit, and Support teams to maintain superior credit quality for both renewal and new bank applications within specified timelines.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure submissions demonstrate excellent credit quality with well-structured and comprehensive financial assessments.
- Maintain ongoing customer engagement to verify information accuracy and incorporate detailed recommendations into credit applications.
- Provide expert advice on credit risk management, industry or product specialization, and structured finance solutions.
- Exercise sound judgment in reviewing and recommending credit proposals, contributing to business and credit policy development.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers to oversee portfolio compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Act as the primary contact for accountants, auditors, regulators, solicitors, and other professionals on credit management matters; provide insights on risk versus reward and challenge pricing when applicable.
- Present credit proposals to decision-makers including approvers and central committees.
- Partner closely with business units to meet budgeted credit volumes.
- Conduct daily examinations of monitoring reports related to credit renewals and other requirements, ensuring underwriters focus on proposal quality.
- Monitor timeliness of limit renewal submissions and activation of agreed limits, coordinating covenant adherence checks with business units.
- Track post-approval conditions rigorously, ensuring timely follow-up actions.
- Maintain accuracy and data integrity in all credit documentation and processes.
- Manage asset credit quality and concentration at the unit level, supporting the bank's investment-grade credit rating.
- Enforce enterprise-wide risk management and compliance with applicable policies, minimize audit findings, and align activities within the risk appetite framework.
- Identify and address early warning signs of credit distress promptly.
- Support team development by meeting departmental learning hour targets and fostering upskilling in line with the learning and development strategy.
- Complete timely HR responsibilities including performance management and employee engagement surveys.
- Promote high levels of collaboration and teamwork across departments and teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate degree in Commerce or BBA majoring in Finance or Banking.
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of comprehensive banking experience covering credit, operations, and trade finance.
- At least 3 to 6 years of core experience within credit departments or relationship management roles is essential.
- Proficient writing skills for preparing high-quality credit proposals and managing approval processes.
- Strong expertise in product knowledge, legal aspects, collateral evaluation, and understanding security documentation such as Facility Offer Letter and related supporting legal documents.
