Job Overview
The Mental Health Customer Service Representative will act as a primary liaison handling patient communication and coordination of testing services. This role is vital in connecting clinics, physicians, medical personnel, and patients while ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of test processing. Their work directly contributes to facilitating better patient outcomes through timely testing service support.
Responsibilities
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of test request forms and associated documentation to enable prompt testing.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to gather necessary paperwork and sample submissions.
- Confirm patient insurance eligibility and coverage details.
- Inform patients about insurance, test procedures, timelines, and related information.
- Devote the majority of work hours (60-80%) to managing telephone communications.
- Handle assigned workload independently while adhering to production and quality benchmarks.
- Collaborate with teams including technology, revenue cycle, sales, and lab personnel to expedite order placement and billing processes.
- Identify operational issues and trends, working with leadership to implement best practices.
- Engage in Quality Assurance activities to maintain service standards.
- Ensure compliance with CLIA and HIPAA regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent with minimum one year related experience; associate or bachelor's degrees are also acceptable.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal abilities.
- High typing proficiency is desirable.
- Excellent active listening, transcription, and self-review skills.
- Comfortable using PC applications including Excel, Word, internet browsers, and email platforms.
- Capable of multitasking effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Exceptional organizational skills and sound professional judgment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and skill in identifying patterns.
- Collaborative mindset and supportive team orientation.
