About the role
This opportunity is for an experienced credit professional who wants to make a meaningful difference. As a Credit Risk Officer, you will play an important part in lending decisions that influence regional economies and support rural and commercial business growth. You will work closely with Relationship Managers and branch teams to design practical, commercially sound lending solutions.
In this role, you will also be a trusted contributor to credit strategy, training, and innovation, while helping foster a workplace culture built on collaboration, courage, and continuous improvement.
Key duties
- Review, assess, and approve lending proposals, renewals, and periodic credit reviews with accuracy and confidence.
- Write and present strong credit papers for senior committee consideration.
- Track portfolio performance, including exposures that are out of order and other risk signals.
- Advise frontline teams on how to structure deals and maintain credit quality.
- Contribute to policy updates, learning initiatives, and product development efforts.
- Work across the business as a reliable credit specialist and relationship partner.
About you
The ideal candidate is commercially minded, technically capable, and comfortable working in a team-oriented environment. A partnership-focused approach is essential, along with a commitment to getting things right the first time, improving continuously, and acting with integrity, professionalism, and purpose.
Experience and knowledge
- At least 5 years’ experience in credit and banking, preferably with exposure to the rural sector.
- Strong capability in analysing financial statements, cash flow information, and valuations.
- A proven background in credit decisions and writing high-quality submissions.
Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Accounting or valuation credentials are considered an advantage.
Core strengths
- Strategic thinking combined with a customer-focused approach.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to prioritise work, lead tasks, and deliver independently.
- Confidence in shaping outcomes and supporting high-quality decisions.
What’s on offer

The organisation values inclusion, equity, and belonging. It describes itself as client-driven, responsible, professional, and cooperative, and promotes an open environment where people can be themselves and feel respected.
