Job description

Role overview

Aramco Trading Limited (ATL), established in London in 2019 as part of the wider Aramco Trading group, operates energy trading activities across refined products, crude oil, specialty petroleum products, chemicals, and related financial and physical trading functions. The London team works alongside offices in Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the UAE, London, and Houston, supporting a global trading network spanning Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

The Credit Risk Analyst will report to the ATL Finance Director and will be responsible for evaluating, monitoring, and controlling counterparty credit exposure. The position sits at the centre of day-to-day trading activity and requires close coordination with Trading, Operations, Front Office, Counterparties, and internal credit stakeholders.

Key accountabilities

  • Act as the primary contact for security discussions and the upkeep of PCG applications and renewals, as well as credit limit reviews and approvals submitted to the Risk Management Committee.
  • Oversee and update the credit profile for a portfolio of European and African counterparties, including onboarding reviews and recurring credit-limit reassessments.
  • Work with Operations and Traders each day to release credit, investigate breaches, monitor utilisation of credit lines, and escalate to the Front Office and counterparties when additional support is needed.
  • Administer counterparty credit parameters for Market-On-Close physical window trading.
  • Review, support, and negotiate new margining agreements, while assisting with daily margining activities when required.
  • Serve as the main contact for structured trade finance transactions, ATL functional reviews, and spot cargo bookings out of ATL.
  • Participate in ATL Functional Review Team discussions to assess credit exposure in new agreements and business cases, providing approval where appropriate and escalating complex structures or new products to ATC Credit for sign-off.
  • Exercise delegated authority to manage temporary increases to credit limits.

Role requirements

  • A degree-level qualification is required.
  • Prior hands-on experience in credit risk, counterparty risk, or trade finance is necessary, ideally gained in commodity trading, energy, metals, agriculture, or shipping.
  • Strong capability in financial analysis, including reading financial statements, evaluating cash flow, assessing leverage, and reviewing liquidity.
  • Experience reviewing counterparty exposure across traders, producers, processors, logistics providers, and financial institutions.
  • Good working knowledge of commodity trading structures such as physical transactions, derivatives, prepayments, offtake arrangements, and structured financing.
  • Judgment and independence to make decisions and challenge commercial teams in a constructive manner.
  • Clear communication skills for explaining credit outcomes to traders, senior leaders, and external parties.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced and high-pressure trading environment.
  • A practical, solution-focused mindset that balances risk discipline with business goals.
  • High standards of integrity, accuracy, and ownership.
